This is my little corner of the internet - a place where I share stories I'm honored to capture: laughter, love, and the quiet everyday moments. Growing up on a farm in Missouri taught me to notice the beauty in simple things. I aim to preserve the moments that matter most in a way that feels natural, genuine, and full of heart.
An August engagement session in the San Juan Mountains filled with wildflowers, shifting skies, and the kind of light you can't plan for.
Some sessions stay with you, and this was one of them.
Danielle and John's evening began in Ouray with steady rain falling all around us. The kind of rain that makes you wonder if the mountains will open up at all. But we loaded up and made our way up the road anyway, trusting the process and hoping for a break in the weather.
And sure enough, as we climbed higher, the rain began to let up.
By the time we reached one of my favorite alpine basins, we were met with the most incredible moody skies - low clouds rolling through the mountains, soft light filtering in, and that quiet stillness that only comes after a summer rain. It felt like the whole landscape had slowed down just for a moment.
We wandered through wildflowers and across the lush green tundra, taking our time and letting the evening unfold naturally. Danielle and John were so easy together, laughing, holding onto each other, and fully soaking in the experience. There was no rush, no pressure, just the two of them enjoying where they were and who they were with.
As the sun began to set, the sky shifted once again. The clouds wrapped around the mountains and caught the light most beautifully, turning soft shades of pink and gold. Peaks began to peek through the distance, and for a few quiet moments, everything felt almost unreal.
It was one of those evenings you can't plan for, only be grateful to witness.
Danielle and John, your joy, your ease, and the way you love each other made this time so special. It was truly an honor to capture it.
If you're dreaming of a session in the mountains-something a little wild, a little unplanned, and full of moments you can't quite put into words-I'd love to be a part of it. Reach out anytime, and we'll start dreaming something up together.
